1.1 And so it begins..

Aveline looked out at the empty lot before her. It wasn’t much, and she had very little of her savings left, but it was hers, and she couldn’t have been happier. Her parents hadn’t believed her when she said she was leaving Champs Les Sims, France for life in a little beach side town called Sunset Valley. Of course they were going to miss her, and she would miss them too, but she felt it was time to control her own destiny.

From a very young age it had been clear that Aveline was ambitious. She believed that working hard would always help you achieve your dreams, and in her case it was to be the CEO of a Mega-Corporation. Although she could be a little over-emotional at times, Aveline was known for being quite a smooth schmoozer, and everyone complimented her on how charismatic she was.

“Bonjour”

Aveline did not have much money left after purchasing the empty lot at 415 Skyborough Boulevard, but she had enough to scrape together a few necessities – a shower, toilet and bed. Everything else she’d have to make do with in town.

Keen to get straight into her favoured working lifestyle, Aveline made her way down to Doo Peas Corporation. After a quick interview with Nick Alto, her new boss, she was hired as a Coffee Courier. She wasn’t due to start work for another day so Aveline decided to visit the local library so she could practice being more charismatic.

Being knowledgeable about how to impress people was one thing, but Aveline knew she needed to put her new found skills into practice. She looked around her. The library was bustling with town-folk. She stood up, took a deep breathe and silently encouraged herself to meet her new neighbours.

Aveline should not have worried though, everybody loved her immediately. They loved the sound of her accent, and the mystery that surrounded a foreigner. She quickly befriended a lot of the town people, including Molly French. They discussed many things, including their shared love of chicken drumsticks, and conversation flowed easily.

“Is it always sunny here?”

As her hunger pains set in, she decided it was time to return home. Due to her lack of a fridge, and cooking skills, Aveline ordered in pizza. She had very little in the way of dining furniture, so instead found the nearest replacement.

After her dinner, she quickly showered and tucked herself into bed. She wanted to wake up in the best mood possible to make a great impression.

And the days passed quickly. Aveline was a hit at work. Her boss loved her keen drive to work, and she was promoted to Filing Clerk on her second day. Not one to rest on her laurels, Aveline once again headed off to the library to work on charisma. On this occasion, she also met a man, Xander Clavell. They discussed many things, including their career paths, but Aveline had other ideas about Xander on her mind.

It was clear to Aveline that they had a deep connection. They flirted for the next couple of days, and eventually she invited him over and shared their first kiss..

..and a few days later Aveline shared a little more..

“Je suis enceinte”

Aveline had discovered that Xander was a little commitment-phobic, but she wasn’t going to let that deter her from what she wanted. All she dreamed of was having a healthy baby, and the baby’s father to share the experience with. Aveline wanted everything to be perfect during her pregnancy, so she headed off to the library to read all she could about the experience. Later that evening Aveline invited Xander over to ask an important question. Although a little nervous about the prospect of being a one-woman man, he accepted the proposal. He loved Aveline, and she was a one in a million find. The couple quickly celebrated with a romantic wedding by their new fridge.

Xander quickly settled into Aveline’s lawn-living lifestyle.

Xander was everything her parents warned her against. Apart from being a commitment-phobe, he was also hot-headed, inappropriate, a mooch and a party animal. Marriage was not part of his dream. He was enchanted with women and wanted to be with them all, and if not all, ten would do. As soon as Xander moved in he celebrated his adult birthday.

With the money Xander brought with him, the couple was able to build some semblance of a house to live in. Xander had brought a small radio with him, and straight away he used it to work out in order to get promoted in his job as a criminal.Of course he did not share this with Aveline.

Closer to the birth of their baby, Aveline decided it was best to stay home as much as possible. To pass the hours of boredom, Aveline painted. Although she wasn’t very good initially, she was determined to paint a portrait of her husband to hang in the house once it was built.

It was while painting that Aveline felt the first labour cramps. Xander, being a typical male sim, freaked out. He wasn’t prepared for this. The couple quickly decided a hospital birth was best, so they bustled into a taxi and quickly sped off.

They eventually reached the hospital safely, and Aveline gave birth to a healthy baby…
